Masai Mara, National Game Reserve, Serengeti Kenya

Masai Mara, Serengeti Kenya, Great Migration, Authentic Wildebeest

One of the Great New Wonders of the World is the Wildebeest Migration at the Masai Mara National Game Reserve. There are well over two million Wildebeest that migrate from Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara National Game Reserve in Kenya. This great phenomena occurs during July through to October. The migration crosses the Mara River where crocodiles lie in wait for the migration of the Wildebeest, those that have crossed safely, will still face the largest population of lions at the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Masai Mara, National Game Reserve, Serengeti Kenya & Tanzania Migration

Masai Mara National Game Reserve is a very popular safari destination in Kenya, if not the most. An enormous amount of wildlife can be seen here. Cheetahs and leopards are not uncommon, and elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, giraffes and baboons abound. The reserve is the location of the annual migration of up to 2 million wildebeest, considered one of the most amazing natural spectacles in the world. The land is the ancestral home of the Masai people who have largely retained their traditional tribal way of life and will entertain visitors with displays of tribal dancing and ceremonies. Many Masai are employed as safari tour guides.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park in central southern Kenya is a popular safari destination and recieves many visitors throughout the year. One of its most attractive features is the scenic backdrop of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro to the south. Large herds of elephants graze on the plains while lions, buffalo, cheetahs, zebra and baboons are common sights, too.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park is known for its masses of birdlife (over 400 species), making it a great safari destination for avid bird-watchers. Safari Destinations in Kenya

Kenyan National Game Reserves

Kenya is one of the most popular safari destinations in the world. With a number of National Game Reserves, with an abundance of wildlife - millions of animals living in their natural habitats in and around over 40 National Parks and Reserves countrywide. Certainly, few visitors return home without sighting and photographing the Big five - Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Lion and Leopard.

Gazing up at Kilimanjaro's serene sun kissed snow-cap from a game lodge in Amboseli is memorable, but then so is sighting that very first lion or elephant, or ballooning over the lush Maasai Mara National Game Reserve - gazing at the incomparable view of the Great Rift Valley, excitingly strewn with lakes and extinct volcanoes.

Whatever your idea of a holiday, either an all action safari or just relaxing on golden beaches, you can be sure of friendly and first class service in Kenya. Kenya's hotels and game lodges are recognized internationally as among the best in the world. Ranking high on the list of favourites are the unique Tree Hotels on the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Abedare Mountains.

Mombasa or Nairobi are generally regarded as the places to begin and end a visit to Kenya. They both boast 5 - star accommodations. Mombasa, Kenya's very attractive main coastal town has glorious palm-fringed coastlines with beautiful beach resorts. The beaches are famous for their lagoons, coral reef & marine national parks.

Safaris all over the country, into Tanzania and Uganda, and other parts of Africa are quickly and conveniently arranged from both Nairobi and Mombasa - as are return international flights or connections abroad.

Meru National Park

Meru National Park is a geographically diverse park on the lowland plains of central Kenya. Heavy rainfall supports jungles, bush lands and tall grass lands. The dense vegetation attracts many herbivores which in turn attracts their predators. Elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, kudu, water bucks, oryx and impala are commonly seen in Meru.

Abadare National Park

Because Abadare National Park can only be navigated by four wheel drive vehicles it is one of the least visited of Kenya's safari destinations. This means a safari may be a little more difficult to organize but you will benefit from the absence of crowds. Giant kingfishers, black serval cats and black leopards are some of the more unusual species you may spot there, along with lions and elephants.

Tsavo East and West National Parks

Tsavo West National Park is known for its watering holes that attract animals and birds in huge numbers, especially during the dry season. Mzima Springs in the park is abundant with hippos and crocodiles. Tsavo East National Park provides a scenic landscape of rock formations created by ancient lava flows, providing a beautiful background for spotting herds of elephants, elusive black rhinos and some rare antelope species.

Lake Bogoria National Game Reserve

Lake Bogoria is home to huge flamingo populations which migrated there due to reduced water levels at their previous favorite location, Lake Nakuru. It is estimated that around 1.5 million birds live around the lake making this a spectacular location for a safari. The Reserve contains hot springs, geysers, wooded and barren areas where gazelles, warthogs and zebras wander freely.
